Gift Tag

Hello! Thanks for stopping by for a quick non-holiday post. This is my favorite kind of project, one where you have 5 minutes to dress up a gift.....

I quickly grabbed a few felt colors and die cut different sizes in 'round' shapes, stacked them and topped with a button. You could use any as long as they gradually become a bit larger so you can see the layers. To secure them together, thread through all layers and then glue the back onto the gift.

The tag is a tag sale die from PTI, as is the sentiment (one of their fantastic $5 sets).
This has to be one of my favorite color combos, too!

Layouts

I've been taking Shimelle's Scrapbook Remix Class and I love it (it wraps up this week for the live version, but it's always available on her site anytime). Anyway, after a week of all about layers and the arrival of my new Studio Calico kit (Sock Hop and Poodle Skirt add-on) I did these over the weekend.
PS - I always write in dates and journaling after I take the pictures.

This one is working on triangle clusters using a variety of embellishments.

This one is stacking layers and layers - from a sketch I saw on SC blog on Sunday.

This is my favorite because I just went with what I felt. I talked about my process in Shimelle's class and it felt 'right' for me.

TFL!

Christmas Card #4

Welcome to my Christmas Cards for the year! This is the 4th one so far (I figure by starting in October I might get enough made to send to everyone on my list).

This card is made from new supplies, which I now keep in one bin until I use them, a tip from Jennifer McGuire in order to make sure they don't get forgotten about.

I finally got some Spellbinders dies (large oval frames) and I love them!! A long overdue staple in my collection to be sure. I cut the oval frame out of some silver glitter paper and then did a white oval behind it, embossing 'Noel' in silver. I dry embossed the arrows pattern onto some white cardstock and then distressed with Distress ink in a combo of Shabby Shutters and Peeled Paint.

After assembling I slipped a piece of 100% wool felt ribbon cut at the ends under the frame and added some Martha Stewart glitter to look like hanging tinsel from the top.

Supplies:
Cardstock: PTI White, Silver Glitter Cardstock (Joann's), echo park 6x6 Very Merry Christmas Pad
Misc: Cuttlebug Embossing Folder James Set, Martha Stewart Coarse Glitter, PTI Simply Chartreuse Felt, PTI Holiday Sentiment, Washi Tape from Etsy, Spellbinders Lage Oval Dies, Silver Embossing Powder, Distress Pads in Shabby Shutters and Peeled Paint.

Christmas Card #3

Here's my third card for this Christmas season. This oh so adorable little boy is CC Designs from Simon Says Stamp and is called Christmas Baby

I used some copics to color him (and if you want to pick up some Copic Sketch markers at an amazing price, visit Dick Blick from now to 10/21 to get them for about $5.24 and if you donate to their Art Program, you'll get another 30% off that - so that's $3.67/Sketch marker - I know, right?!?!). There are some really great ones that go to support kids, I picked a local one to support. :)  I added this at the Simon Says Stamp Challenge blog, and right now, my favorite technique is Copic coloring - I just find that I really enjoy it. I've been stamping or hand drawing images and then sitting on the couch with the hubby and coloring them as we chat or watch a show.

Then I stamped a sentiment and mounted him on some Echo Park Paper (the left edge is the Hero Arts Woodgrain Background stamped and then I used some distress ink in the same color over the top for a tone-on-tone look.

By the way I have little kids and this is a great one to stamp and let them color - they love to participate :)

Thanks for stopping by!

It's Your Day, A Wedding Card

I made this card for a friend that recently got married. The colors were pulled from the wedding invitation. The sash on the dress was a piece I cut off the specialty paper on that same invitation.

The dress was made from the PTI Heart borders die and then flipped upside down for 'ruffles' on the dress. I made the glitter paper using Sookwang 6x6 single sided adhesive paper and then rubbed/burnished on Glitter Ritz glitter (you could get the same effect by using any paper and Sookwang double sided tape and covering it with any super fine glitter.

I drew the shape I wanted for the dress on a piece of paper and then cut it out. as I added each dress layer, I trimmed the edges to match the cutout edges. The background is stamped using LawnFawn's new Interlocking Backdrops stamp set. The enchanted evening (navy colored) paper got spritzed with Studio Calico Shine before adhering to a scored (hexagons) cardbase.

Simon Says Stamp Simon Card

The Stamptember event has been awesome over at Simon Says Stamp and my kids love the boy and dog at the intro of the videos they share every week. We couldn't resist making a card with the dog for the Kick Start Online Class hosted by Jennifer McGuire and Kristina Werner. Amazing class!!
(I've probably stamped this dog 100 or more times for them to color over the past couple of weeks.)

That scalloped border was my challenge - I tried to think of a way to change it up - I rubbed the whole strip in versamrk and then embossed in clear glitter embossing powder (an alternative to putting on adhesive and then coating with glitter and way less messy). I also challenged myself to use more than 10 supplies because I always find myself using only a couple and then not loving the result. I think I like this one!

Products:
Lawn fawn stamp interlocking backgrounds
PTI card stock - white, rustic cream, melon sorbet
Copics - E00, E43, E57, R02, R24
Heart punch, scallop border punch
Tim and Beck paper from Studio Calico September Kit
White embossing powder, clear glitter embossing powder
Heyday 6x6 pad
Ink: memento tuxedo black, versamark, stampin up crumb cake
Glossy accents
Spica glitter pen clear

I would love to get some more copics - what are some of your go-to colors?

Letter Sticker Swatches

Hi All,

You are probably visiting from the Kick Start Class :)

Yesterday, as you know, Tim Holtz was a guest and talked about creating technique swatches. Loved the idea, I have color swatches for paper, ink and mists but hadn't thought about technique swatches (add that to my to-do list, ha!).

Anyway, the more I thought about it, I realized even more pressing was to have a couple swatches of all my thickers, letter/number stickers and mini alphas. I used letter X because it's a letter I don't think I have ever put on a layout, ever!

Now that I see all my lettering choices and I can easily just grab the tag of choices (I did them by color groupings because I usually know I'm looking for a 'green' and it's a matter of shade or tone) I am really excited to use them.

Oh, and seeing all these X's has inspired me to take a ton of X's and do a layout of them......

What do you think?
